It seems a bit lofty, right? Perhaps even over-reaching? On its face, the statement seems grandiose.
Action 426 - Change The World.
But is it, really? Is it big thinking to believe I can change the world? I disagree. I think it's a matter of fact that I am going to change the world. Every moment that I live, breathe and interact with others, I am changing the world.
And that is my point, really. I think it's virtually impossible to wander through this world and NOT impact the people with whom I interact. I may influence them in a positive or negative way, but I am still influencing them.
Believing that as I do, I feel an obligation to put my best foot forward. I'm the guy who says "thank you" and "please" to the clerk at the store. I chat with folks in line and I smile and say hello to people I pass when I'm walking.
It's not that I think these gestures make me better than other people. I do them because NOT doing them feels awkward and uncomfortable. Averting my gaze rather than interact with a stranger seems a ridiculous thing to do in most day-to-day situations.
So, yes, I'm going to change the world. My challenge, then, is to do so in as productive, positive, and hopeful manner that I can. And that will be an action I will continue for the rest of my life.
